John Burgess - - The Evolution of Punk Poetry

John Burgess booklets:

Remember in high school some time ago when our literary magazine was mimeographed and stapled together. It was the art and the enthusiasm that counted.

Now imagine a DIY press called the Future Unwritten Press that makes Haiku and other poetry /  comic booklets. Such a press is John Burgess’ brain child, to bring you pithy insights due with the minimum of words. Paper may still be cheap, but thought is still precious.

John Burgess is an emerging Seattle poet, who has worked on a survey team in Montana, corporate communications specialist, and he has single-handedly created “punk poetry.”

John received a degree in Eglish and worked as instructor in Japan, and his wfie Patsy is of Japanese descent. They are a kind-hearted couple and John is active in the Seattle literary powerhouse The Hugo House, named after Richard Hugo. John specialized in the Haiku and Haiku comic in small-sized chapbooks. In the summer 2026 issue of Haiku Comic by J.B., there is an illustrated:

Backyard Party Lights / Still on the next moring.

Or the Spring Issue:

The Same Rain / falls on you / falls on me.

Here is John’s website:  https://punkpoet.net/

Check it out. Write him and he will send you some poetry – punk poetry!

He is a democratic dedicated poet like Walt Whitman, welcoming you to every

“blades of grass.”
